WARNING: FEATURES VIOLENT CONTENT DEPICTING A GAY BASHING
(EDIT: Now on vimeo. :) Sorry again for the poor video quality!)
So, when I found out Blaine was singing this, I pretty much jumped for joy. I thought it was finally addressing Sadie Hawkins, or his relationship with his dad, or, you know, any of the millions of opportunities for character development they’ve ignored for Blaine this season.
Of course, it wasn’t. Because they didn’t acknowledge any of that.
So, I did it for them. Darren sang this song really wonderfully, and there’s quite a lot that seems to be going through his head in this video. I tried to supplement it as much as I could (the bullying scenes are mainly from Queer as Folk and A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints), but ultimately this is supposed to be a “re-imagining” of the performance. So it’s mostly built around the performance (plus a section I added in that I felt was integral to understanding why he’s singing the song).
I kept in the cheesy beginning, because I don’t care, I love the cheesy beginning. Also, this is the first time I’ve ever edited anything. So, apologies if it sucks. Let me know what you think!
